Questions
Can employees clock in and out themselves?
Yes. Each person has their own page in the workspace with one button on it, and the time recorded is taken from the server rather than from their phone. Lateness and overtime are worked out against the shift they are rostered on, in your own timezone. It records that somebody pressed a button — it is not yet proof of where they were standing, and the register tells a manager which days were self-clocked.
What if somebody forgets to clock out?
The day stays open and they can close it until thirty-six hours after it started, which covers a night shift ending the next morning. After that only a manager can record the hours, on the register — because only they know whether that person worked until six or went home at two.
Does it handle PAYE and NAPSA?
Tax and statutory deductions are part of the pay run and appear on the payslip and in the payroll summary. As with Finance, it produces the record you file from rather than filing for you.
Can a line manager approve leave without seeing salaries?
Yes, and that split is deliberate. The HR and payroll permission prefixes are separate, so approving leave and reading the salary column are two different grants.
What about staff who are paid in cash?
A pay run records what was earned and what was deducted regardless of how it leaves the building. The payslip is the record; the payment method is yours.
